I Defy You Stars

Welcome to the relaunch of Exile In Mantua.

This is the score from Romeo + Juliet, Introduction To Romeo, where we meet Romeo for the first time.

Why then, O brawling love, O loving hate,

O anything of nothing first created!

O heavy lightness, serious vanity,

Misshapen chaos of well-seeming forms!

Ay me! Sad hours seem long.....

This post is a throwback to how it all started for me with this blog. I was stuck and felt like Romeo in exile. It seemed the stars were against me and I was Fortune's fool. Like Romeo in this scene I reached a moment where my world fell apart. It took me awhile, but, I began to remember who I was. It made me determined to look inside myself, make peace with who I was and build on my strengths, as well as, come to terms with my imperfections, to do no harm, and love purely.
A brilliant person is neither a genius or an idiot; they are a student. I try to learn all that I can about everything that sparks my interest. I'm not a casual learner. I strive to be a student of many things, of people, the human condition, and myself. Empathy is my greatest tool. Empathy is not something that once you learn it you become a master of it. Empathy is something that is constantly evolving. You have to upgrade your empathy and level it up. Things change; people change; and we have to make room in our hearts for that growth.
So, on that note, please join me in exile; but it's a different kind of exile now. Let's choose the exile: Away from dogma, hate, misunderstanding, coldness, and incivility. Let's exile to empathy and love. Let's all go live there.
